Wednesday, April 7, 2021

To the Navarro County Republican Party Executive Committee,

It has been a while since I have been able to reach out to our entire executive committee , and for that I apologize. My role as Emergency Management Coordinator for Navarro County has taken on more than a full-time job along with my position at Oil City Iron Works. In addition to the County COVID operation, we are now dealing with a federal disaster declaration due to the extreme winter weather experienced earlier this year.

For those who are not aware, we suffered tremendous losses with Congressman Wright’s untimely death, Precinct Chairman 107 Larry Bailey, and Precinct Chair 405 Bobby Wade. It has been challenging to see many of our great friends and patriots passing.

As many of you are aware, Governor Abbott has called a special election for the vacancy in Congressman Wrights seat for CD6. There are eleven republicans have filed to fill this seat. This special election is set for May 1, 2021. I encourage everyone to talk to your constituents, friends, and family about the importance of carrying on Congressman Wright’s conservative legacy in CD 06. There are also several democrats who are running for this seat. I encourage everyone to take this time to inform your voters of this important election. A special Candidates forum will be held this Thursday, April 8th at 6:00 PM at the Corsicana Palace Theatre. All CD06 Candidates have been invited to attend. The event is free, and I highly encourage you to attend.

We anticipate continued action at the state level regarding the recent failures from ERCOT in handling electrical capacities and losses associated with crucial decisions that left millions without power across the State. This along with many other issues are a priority this legislative session, and I urge you to keep abreast of the news coming from of our State Capital.  Both Representative Cody Harris and Senator Birdwell issue weekly updates on legislative actions.

I am herby submitting my resignation as County Chairman to Party Secretary, Steven Jessup effective April 15, 2021 at the called EC Meeting. I have very much enjoyed serving as your party chairman since 2018. However, my position as County EMC has become very time consuming with all that is going on in Navarro County, while still carrying out my responsibility as President of Oil City Iron Works, and most importantly taking care of my family. With these new responsibilities as EMC, I simply cannot hold a position where I am unable to fulfill duties as your Party Chairman in the capacity I want to, and what you deserve. I know our Party has many leaders who can and will do an excellent job going forward. I will be recommending Steven Jessup to the EC as my replacement.

I plan to still support of our Party once everything slows down later this year, barring no further disasters. Like you, I have given the Party all I have. I’m proud of all the great accomplishments our TEAM has completed in a short time. No one person is responsible for our success, rather a collection of great leaders who know how to win battles, and more importantly the war of politics in keeping Navarro County and our districts’ conservative.

I fully look forward to working with the EC’s replacement choice for our new Chair. I will mentor and help as needed for a smooth and successful transition.

Thank you all and God Bless Navarro County and God Bless Texas!

Eric Ryan Meyers
