At its regularly scheduled Executive Committee Meeting on Monday April 21, 2025, the Republican Party Of Navarro County has endorsed the following candidates for the Saturday May 3 City & School Election:
- Jeff Smith – Corsicana City Council Precinct 4
- Jerry Burkholder – Corsicana ISD Board Place 6
- John Paul Ross – Navarro College Board of Trustees Place 5 (At Large)
Jeff Smith is directly responsible for bringing Hobby Lobby, Academy, Ulta, and TJ Maxx to Corsicana. He has brought $ 194 million of investment to Corsicana, along with 195 jobs to Corsicana. He desires to additional projects come to fruition with new City Manager Jim Holgerson.
Jerry Burkholder’s priority is to keep schools safe for both students and faculty, because they are currently not. He wants to bring discipline back to the classroom, to empower teachers. As a 1972 graduate of Corsicana HS, he wants to ensure all students are workforce ready. Many teachers in CISD are not certified, which he will push for.
John Paul Ross has set a vision and direction for Navarro College by analyzing and approving a budget, that will reduce the cost of tuition & board for students. He is already ministering to the Navarro College football and basketball teams, as chaplain. As a graduate of Navarro College, he will prepare students to earn an Associate degree that can transfer to East Texas A & M in Commerce TX.
Early Voting at the Navarro County Annex April 22-29.
Election Day for all municipal and school board elections is Saturday, May 3.
