Derrick Days Republican Booth 2024

Saturday, April 27, 2024

The annual “Derrick Days” Festival was established in 1976 to commemorate Corsicana’s rich oil history and its significant impact on the community’s development.

Corsicana East Side 1897

Drilling for water in 1894 resulted in the first significant discovery of oil west of the Mississippi River, which led to Texas’ first oil boom.  In 1923, a new and even larger oil deposit, the Powell oil field, unleashed a new oil boom.  This brought a variety of new citizens and commerce to Corsicana’s historic downtown business and residential properties.  Today, there are activities for everyone in the family to enjoy, such as:  minathon fun run, car show, food vendors, shopping, washer & horseshoe tournament, and chili cook-off — and growing with the addition of new activities each year.

The Republican Party of Navarro County is sponsoring a booth at Republican Headquarters during the Derrick Days Festival.
